Sister Saturday – DIY Doll Journals! {Stuffie Takeover #2}

Ahh! Guys! I can’t believe Stuffie Takeover is almost over!!

Ahem. Hi! I’m Kenzie. And in case you didn’t know, my sister Brookie and I are here to host Sister Saturday of Stuffie Takeover Week! Stuffie Takeover occurs the first week of every month, where instead of our owners making posts about us, we have a chance to write posts and manage the blogs ourselves, in a set schedule!

Today, Brookie and I are going to show you how to make your own DIY doll journals! One of the perks to making your own is that you get to choose and decorate your cover yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚ Let’s get started!

You will need white paper (or lined paper), cover paper of your choice, a ruler, a pencil, scissors, glue (not shown), and whatever you would like to decorate your cover! ๐Ÿ™‚

First, you’ll need to measure out how big you want your journal to be. We made ours three inches (counting both sides and the binding), but of course, we are rather small. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next, make pencil marks to the left and right of the halfway mark! I know this sounds super confusing, but basically, all you’re doing is establishing the binding and length of your journal.

It should look like this!

Cut your shape out. We made two of these. ๐Ÿ™‚

Fold where you made your pencil marks. You should end up with something like the above!

Next, get a pencil. Using your cover as a guide (and a ruler if that helps!), measure out the pages.

Brookie and I drew long lines with pencil horizontally and then vertically. This created squares about 1.5 inches long, perfect to fit in our cover!

This may take a long time, so get a snack and get comfy! XD

Once you have all your pages drawn out, take your scissors and cut them out! A paper cutter would make this step easier, but last time Brookie almost cut my finger off so haha. XD

Now all that’s left is to assemble your journal!

Stack all your pages together. Now, spread glue on the left side where the binding should be! Make sure you get ALL the pages.

When the glue has dried, spread ANOTHER layer and attach it to the cover!

And you have your journals! *claps for you* Now all that’s left is to decorate the cover.

We got Cherry to do our names in pretty calligraphy on the front. *sighs in envy*

Aren’t they adorable???ย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ย Thanks, Cherry!

And here’s where you can let your imagination go wonky! Decorate and personalize your covers however you like.

I ended up doing glitter polka dots on mine! I dabbed dots of glue over my cover, and then sprinkled glitter on them.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Definitely not the neatest job I could do. But…let’s just say it’s entirely possible for Brookie to yell in the background to hurry up, “accidentally” nudge your arm while you’re putting on glitter, and spill glue all over the place.

Brookie, on the other hand, opted for a sweet fabricated finish!

And voila! Here are our finished journals! Brookie and I can’t WAIT to start writing and doodling in them!

Hope you enjoyed that little DIY! If you did, leave us a comment below and we’ll reply ASAP! ๐Ÿ™‚

Question: What’s your favorite thing to do with your sister? Or if you don’t have one, what’s your favorite thing to do with your best friend?
